Monthly Discussion Group: Sex Ed!

Date: Saturday, October 4, 2014.

Time: 3:30–5:30 p.m.

Location: Pivot (209 SW 4th ave in downtown Portland)

This month is all about sex. We’ll be bringing in a guest speaker from Pivot to talk about the basics of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases: how they spread, what behaviors put you most at risk for infection, and how to protect yourself and your sexual partner(s) from them .

But that’s not all!

The second half of our meeting will be devoted to your questions about sex. Let’s face it, for many coming out later in life, who may or may not have ever been intimate with a man, there are a lot of unanswered questions about same-sex sex. For example:

  • What does it mean when a guy asks if I’m a top or a bottom? How do I know if I’ve never actually had sex with a man before? How should I respond?
  • How do I tactfully ask another man if he has been recently tested for STDs?
  • How do I determine my own personal ethics on sex when I come from a background where same-sex sex is already considered outside the boundaries?

Since this is a sensitive topic, we are giving you the chance to submit your questions about sex beforehand. To do so, send an email to Vinnie through the contact page. We will compile all the questions, and we won’t share the names of the questioners with anyone.

The goal of this meeting is for every man to walk away feeling informed and empowered to make good choices for himself in regard to his own sex life. There will be no judgment allowed about anyone’s sexual choices (if they are sexually active or not, how many men they’ve been with or not been with, etc.). All men are welcome, from the curious to the experienced.
